First envisioned nearly a decade ago, The Winfield Hotel and Residences faced a series of delays that slowed its progress. COVID-19 brought construction challenges and skyrocketing costs, forcing the project into a holding pattern. But on Dec. 12, 2024, Scottsdale’s Development Review Board unanimously reapproved the project.
Developer David Slattery updated the plans slightly to meet current market needs and sustainability standards. Here’s what’s new:
- Reduction in hotel rooms from 256 to 230.
- Increase in condos from 16 to 24 units.
- Incorporation of rooftop solar panels and EV charging facilities.
- Continuation of its boutique design, combining luxury and Western heritage.
With reapproval secured, The Winfield is ready to move forward, bringing a blend of hospitality and residential luxury to its prime location at 4221 N Scottsdale Road.

A Unique Concept For Old Town Scottsdale
The Winfield will combine a nine-story boutique hotel with luxury condos on its upper levels.
