Legend Trail
Legend Trail
Legend Trail is a master-planned golf community in the high Sonoran Desert of North Scottsdale. Set across approx. 640 acres, the community includes more than 800 homesites, with roughly half of the original acreage devoted to open space. The higher desert setting brings views of Pinnacle Peak, Black Mountain, the McDowell Mountains, and surrounding desert into much of the neighborhood.
Homes here are surprisingly varied. There are established single-family neighborhoods, gated enclaves, golf course properties, custom homes, and a small collection of condos. Legend Trail is also bordered by expansive desert and sits near the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, giving the community a more open feel than many Scottsdale golf developments.
Homes, Golf, & Community Amenities
Legend Trail combines a public golf course with resident amenities and several distinct residential neighborhoods.
- Variety Of Homes: Options range from smaller detached residences and condos to larger homes and custom properties, with floor plans extending well beyond 4,000 square feet in select neighborhoods.
- Distinct Neighborhoods: The community includes areas such as The Legends, The Fairways, The Traditions, Preserve Summit, Legend Vista Estates, and The Estates, with several sections behind gates.
- The Retreat: This smaller condominium enclave includes just 36 residences near the golf course and community center.
- Legend Trail Golf Club: The public 18-hole course was designed by Rees Jones, with elevated tees, desert terrain, and views toward Pinnacle Peak, Black Mountain, and Lone Mountain.
- Golf Without A Private Club Requirement: Tee times are open to the public, while the club also offers annual passes and other golf programs.
- Community Center: Resident amenities include two pools, a spa, fitness facilities, tennis and pickleball courts, and indoor gathering spaces.
- Open Desert: Approx. 320 acres were set aside as open space, helping preserve much of the Sonoran Desert character throughout the community.
- Outdoor Recreation: Multi-use paths run through Legend Trail, while the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and additional trailheads are nearby.
- North Scottsdale Location: Carefree and Cave Creek are close by for restaurants and everyday conveniences, while Scottsdale Road connects residents with the broader North Scottsdale area.
Living At Legend Trail
Legend Trail feels distinctly different from Scottsdale’s denser golf communities. There is more desert between homes, mountain views appear in multiple directions, and the public golf course means the neighborhood isn’t built around a mandatory private-club lifestyle. You can live along a fairway and play regularly, or simply enjoy the setting without making golf the center of your day.
The housing choices add to that flexibility. A condo near the community center offers a very different experience from a larger home in Preserve Summit or a custom property in Legend Vista Estates. Add the pools, fitness facilities, racquet sports, and nearby desert recreation, and Legend Trail offers a lot without trying too hard to feel like a resort.
