Scottsdale City Council Approves The New Legacy North Project

Legacy North

Scottsdale’s City Council recently approved the Legacy North project, a new residential development at 7550 E. Legacy Blvd. This project brings nearly 450 housing units to the area and adds momentum to the ongoing expansion of the Crossroads East Master Plan, which spans 1,000 acres across the northern part of the city. Legacy North’s mix of apartments and townhomes will introduce more options for North Scottsdale’s growing population and support the city’s broader development goals.

Legacy North Project Overview

The Legacy North project is a multi-phase residential development by a California-based firm. Located on 20 acres, the development will feature a blend of townhomes and apartments to accommodate a range of residents and lifestyles.

  • Location: 7550 E. Legacy Blvd., Scottsdale
  • Acreage: 20 acres of previously undeveloped desert land
  • Total Units: Approximately 450 housing units
  • Building Layout:
    • 108 townhome units in two- and three-story buildings

Crossroads East & Zoning Considerations

Legacy North forms part of Scottsdale’s ambitious Crossroads East Master Plan, which spans nearly 1,000 acres of mixed-use development. With much of Crossroads East already built or in progress, Legacy North represents one of the latest residential components within this plan.

City Council approved the project by a 6-1 vote, as it did not require new zoning changes. The Development Review Board (DRB) initially approved Legacy North’s design earlier in the year, and the council’s approval served to affirm the zoning district boundary as outlined in the Crossroads East guidelines.

Resident Concerns & Developer Adjustments

While the project received support from the council, some nearby residents voiced concerns about aspects of the development, specifically regarding buffer zones near existing neighborhoods. These residents cited worries about encroachment into community spaces initially discussed as part of the project’s design.

The developer addressed these concerns at the meeting, attributing the issues to a miscommunication and expressing willingness to collaborate with residents. In response, they outlined plans to review buffer areas and adjust community space allocations, ensuring that the project aligns with community expectations.

Legacy North’s Impact On Scottsdale

The Legacy North project will bring a significant number of new residents to Scottsdale’s northern neighborhoods and enhance the area’s housing diversity. As the Crossroads East Master Plan progresses, Legacy North is expected to attract both new residents and those seeking modern living in an increasingly connected part of the city. This project will not only contribute to the city’s residential needs but also add value to Scottsdale’s growing infrastructure.
